An Exploration in Writing. HubPages is an adventure in sharing words.

HubPages is a wonderful place full of opportunity. It is a plethora of information waiting to be clicked. Help lay just a click away. There are articles on almost anything you can think of. It is a good place to begin researching whatever your heart or mind desires. As a blossoming writer it offers World Wide Web exposure with an unlimited audience, yet defining your audience is paramount too, while giving you not only an opportunity but a gift, freely – learning.

One opportunity is the capacity for increasing earning power through affiliate programs. Another is having a platform to express personal views in a professional manner while informing the reader. Exposure is discovered with time as we learn Hubs tie to the profile, tying to the blog, tying to other hubs, tying to other associate hubs, World Wide Web links, other parallel writing development sites, and on and on.

To the newcomer it can be as easy as 1 – 2 – 3 or it can be very overwhelming. Yet, time is the medicine, patience with self is the therapy, and baby steps have always come before leaps and bounds. Then, suddenly like the passing of a spring rain the sun’s outstretched arms embrace the vision making it shine. Then a passion to write flowers bringing charm and delights to its readers.

HubPages offers one great solution for the newcomer - 30 hubs in 30 days challenge. This tempts the writer, who is eager to demonstrate their craft, like the candy isle for a kid at the grocery store. The goal is primal in a one sense saying only “kick your feet, move your arms, breath, and then you will swim.” At the same time it says have fun, fun, fun with writing, while letting writing become your friend. Then again, it opens the mind to endless ideas swarming like busy bees around the nest of creativity and opportunity while fulfilling desire.

There is incentive too. Become a winner. Yes, you can be a winner receiving rewards. There is the obvious reward of financial gain. However, some rewards are obvious while others lurk ready to surprise you with great joy and understanding. Organizing skills develop either through the theory of chaos of from complexity comes simplicity. Composition types – the argument, explaining, compare / contrasting, etc., become apparent from reading hubs. How to use spell check becomes a wonderful skill, the Dictionary and Thesaurus become allies, and the web as a source for grammar understanding equals college classes. Soon, you discover you very well have won a fellowship to The Art of Writing.

Though Each contest varies, there is a single thread weaving opportunities with different categories. Simply clicking here you will discover information on becoming a hubnugget winner. But, to participate you do have to register, yes, one must commit to the desire - writing. To fuel the passion of creativity, the want of expressing self, the need to tell the world, the yearning to share discoveries in a unique way, and explore an infinite universe of ideas it takes a step, one step.

But, shhhhhhhhhh, there are secrets too. Even though HubPages is not a social networking site or a blog site, you can back-link to them. AHHHHH, what is a back-link? Briefly, that is a method to tie your work to other works – blogs, other hubs, your own hubs, and more. Wait a minute. There is another secret. You can write a series of hubs, linking to each other, then to your more subjective blog, then to your other sites, which support your Hub, while economic gain is possible with advertising. Linking and back linking to your work and others is not the wicked weaving of a spider, it is a network of free flowing information, the camaraderie of fellow travelers, and the assurance of a lifetime experience.

This means you can write smaller hubs on specifics of a larger picture, which may be an easier process. Or you can write Hubs of length on a particular passion of yours dealing with social issues, political issues, sporting interests, health issues, and everyday life experiences. Hubs range from 600 words to 1500 words or more. As the writer you have a choice, are given the liberty within a professional writing environment to explore, learn, and develop skills.

Maybe you have always been a surfer, traversing the many avenues of the World Wide Web seeking new things, new thoughts, and new ideas. Maybe your world is both as an observer and participant at forums, chat rooms, and commenting yet haven’t felt fulfilled and you have a desire to share more. Maybe you have said “I know about that” or “but, there is more to it than that” or asked “what about this.” Writing about it is an avenue, which presents discovery by researching from many sources – Web, library, interviews, that stuff you forgot about from school and importantly – experience.

Shhhhhhhhhh. There is more still. HubPages is a community of well informed, knowledgeable, and certainly curious persons. And, though some live in the hustle and bustle of life as we all do, they are willing to help, point newbies in the right direction, give support and offer ideas. It may be a hub they wrote, a comment to a question, a thread at the forum, a comment on your hub, a simple vote of approval or disapproval, which really is always positive. Just a quick excursion about and longevity is discovered. Some have been members for years. So, like you and me they started somewhere, sometime, and someplace.

HubPages is like Treasure Island at Disneyland or in Robert Louis Stevenson’s book or even the Casino Resort at Las Vegas. It is whatever the heart and mind may desire for both the reader and writer. And, you don’t have to be great at it to start. There are only a five requirements to my knowledge 1) like to read 2) like to write 3) willing to learn 4) register and 5) ask questions while seeking answers. Well, that is a little misleading. You don’t have to register to read the Hubs, just find the one that interests you and read it, share it, and then become an explorer like Columbus, Galileo, Einstein, or others of history and today. And there is one strong recommendation to be made – smile and remember to have fun, fun, fun , , ,

G'mornin' tsmog :):

For the life of me, I don't understand why you chose to follow me, but I thank you...mucho! ")"

I always read a hub of a new friend.

I couldn't find a hub that interested me in your 25, so I just picked one, this one, and read it thru.

You write well! You write expressively and with emotion.

If you don't know it yet, relevant to religion, I am an "ignostic."

Welcome aboard my new friend. :):

thank you for your comment. My motivation for following is the poety.

I believe you meant agnostic, yet I remember Iggy Arbuckle, the ranger too.

That's cool, I tend to lean toward gnostic, yet the only religion I have is gardening. I don't belive any of these would prevent two writers from drinking a cup of coffee together. Smile , , ,

My humble apology. Thank you for the enlightenment. Having used Wikipedia for a quick view of ignosticism I can see some agreements with personal views, yet still requires clarity on some prompted questions. Having so many chores at this time, unfortunately no time to dig deep. However, it is on my think pad, below my keyboard - underlined emphatically. A trip to Stanford's Encyclopedia of Philosophy will be ventured I'm sure. Or do you have some links , , ,or have you written a hub on it yet , , ,

You're very welcome :)

I think that if you peruse my "profile" page, what I have to say about myself will give you more of an insight on me.

The poem I offered, is a rhyming poem that took me a very long to finish.

It's a poem that takes one on a journey thru time during which the earth was created, life appeared, disappeared and re-appeared and again ended. it is an "epic" poem.

Rhyming poetry is soooo.. difficult. At least I find it to be so.

I love words as you do. Some complain that their vocabulary wasn't up to "snuff" aftr trying to wade thru this poem.

If you should read it, I'd appreciate a response from another lover of words. :):
