I Got a 502

Once Upon a Time, Long, Long, Ago , , ,
Cruising about the internet one may not be able to be put into words the vast experiences. What a big statement! We all have experiences leading to great leaps of joy and downfalls of frustrations. I took my ‘baby’ out on a run for vacation spending a lot of time at HubPages. I mean the original intent, purpose; desire was to write on this vacation. I have a hankering to get in touch with the T.S. Eliot, the Norah Roberts, the Mark Twain, the J.K. Rowling, the Edgar Allen Poe, the Harper Lee, , , hidden within the recesses of my mind.
Sing Along , , ,
As far as that goes, what the heck is the mind? I have been studying the mind as an amateur for over twenty-five years now and you know what – it is a fantabulous mystery. When I think of how wonderful the mind is I can only say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. That word has always put all my thoughts, emotions, memories, feelings, views, and whatever into one simple, easily recognizable word. I mean come on now! Mary Poppins is a legendary resource for the both the imaginative mind and the at times the stalwart rational mind, ain’t she? Dick Van Dyke was memorable dancing with the penguins. What kid that has seen the movie could ever forget. Reach deep inside and remember the fun that was/is joyously elicited.
The Plot Continues , , ,
Oh, well, back to the intent of this article. I took a long, long nap after eating a slightly burned pizza. Feeling refreshed just passed midnight, seeking more inspiration I sought out HubPages after a stop or two to some forums I follow. I stopped by Facebook to visit. Getting a bunch of posts, because it was my birthday yesterday, I ventured an avenue of answers. Cool, eh? Damned if my replies just didn’t seem to be popping up. After pursing it relentlessly for about an hour they finally took. I rebooted thinking my ‘baby’ was having a temper tantrum.
I made some coffee for the journey this early morning. Well rested and plenty of time for a short nap before therapy a 9 A.M. I shifted gears and zoomed toward HubPages. Excited to see if there were any comments to the three poems I wrote, I plunged into the realms of enlightenment and discovery. But, wait, what is this! I can’t log on. Why I mused and inquired. Taken back and at odds with the dilemma required my utmost determination.
A Dramatic Saga , , ,
Futility pursued my efforts over and over and over. Then, buried away in simple logic and wondering of cause and effect I ventured to my email. Alas, I received entrance from a message saying Cloverleaf had commented on a hub. Ah Sh**, I cried while attempting to navigate elsewhere while receiving a big, bolded black ‘502’ on my screen. The state of my affairs within drew upon this the well used colloquial term – “drunk driving.” I stared and stared and stared some more. Who is this coming from I pondered without knowing.
I began to justify the humor of this innocuous mistake. I for one, do not drink. It would cause great harm and conflict with all the meds I take. Besides, having been a volunteer as a designated driver at my friendly hangout over the years I observed why not to drink. Oh my, there goes my mind wandering on nonsensical things again. But, hey it does say 502! And, so it seems, over and over and over again.
There must be an answer to this, so mounting my brave and mighty steed galloping into the World Wide Web I sought the morning sunrise. WHAT, I cried as utter amazement captured my very soul, twisted my mind, causing my heart to thud – thump & thump some more. Thoughts began to zip and zoom, confused a tad bit too, so many, I wrote them down. The resources I discovered ranged from new modem, to my ISP provider, to browser, to HubPages server, and what is this crap – the CIA? My G**! The things you find on the internet is wonderment to say the least. Now, I walk away, mumbling words of discontent full of puzzlement while thinking of bros, sisters, and their kids. Thank G** for parental controls!
Action Scene , , ,
Is the internet a wonderful place to journey? Doesn’t it provide for discovery, education, communication, and more? I know I walk on the wild side of curiosity at times, yet I am an adult. I began brooding over way too many things. The crux was I wanted to get rid of this 502. Do I have to go to court? Is this a social citation warning me not to wander so much? Have I crossed the line with my liberty as a writer? Feelings like this may be sound or obscure to almost anyone. So, I searched some more.
Forum upon forum, conversations galore filled my Google, MSN, and Yahoo explorations. Discoveries were being made, although answers were from the very odd and strange to some well composed. I took the advice of one humble soul – Master Reset the damned thing. So, a sip of coffee , a puff on the ciggy, glance at the stars through the window, and mustering all the eternal hope I could, I did just that. Clearing all my cookies and browser history as suggested, boldly clicking that red button – “Turn Off,” walking away to the bathroom (fearing I may have waited too long), and then I sat in front of the TV for some consoling.
3 - 2 - 1 Take Off
Tick-tock, the clock does talk. One minute – five minutes – ten minutes pass. This is gon’na be the very grandest Master Reset I have ever done. OK, plug all the connections back into the modem, turn on the printer, and fire my ‘baby’ back up. 10 – 9 – 8 , , , 3 – 2 – 1, contact – ignition – we have lift off. While booting up I reminisced learning that the on board computer of our cars are 10 times more sophisticated than that of the Apollo capsules. Harrumph! Just think about what sits next to our monitors or is contained in those flipped out laptops. Have we got it easy or not? But, I still want to know just what that confounded 502 is all about.
The Heroine / Hero Saves the Day , , ,
Communication seems to be the element of this 502 error - (Explanation from Nginx - I simply dun'no - LOL) plastered on my screen. So, am I a bad communicator? I think not. Did I explore myself in different public forums? Yes. Is this a polite warning to take heed? Nahhhhhhhhh just a glitch. Alas, I’m back to my new hangout. Quickly now scoot my ‘baby’ down the road of curiosity, discovery , and exploration at the forums. Here it is. Well, have you ever tried to bench press 200 lbs? Just think of that kind of intensity bearing upon you, then lifting like a gentle feather floating listlessly away, you begin to breath again. See, you do understand!
If it can happen to Melbel, Marisa Wright, Just Ask Susan, Habee, Lisa HW, Sofs, Mark Ewbie, TerryGI, and many, many, many more, then surely it was not just me. It is a technical glitch it seems. Laying somewhere in the mix of programming, electronic wizardry, physics, and the confinement of the infinite outer space is the answer for sure. For now I have none to offer except “this too shall pass.”

The Moral of the Story is , , ,
I have a great big smile painted on my face now. Remembering I thanked some today for restoring my sense of humor, I begin to passionately laugh. Not too loud, you see, since it is 4:30 in the early morning. Don’t want to wake the neighbors. Little ones are still asleep. What an adventure life is, ain’t it. I get ain’t from reading too much Mark Twain, I guess. Have a wonderful day all!

Great story. You sound like me when I get some weird message or something isn't working correctly. :)
I got a 502 on Hub pages this morning. Then it stopped. Weird.
Rob
AS DID I EVEN AFTER INSTALLING THE SPEED MAX PC PROGRAM..WTF
Haha Tsmog, you did make me chuckle. I hope it wasn't my comment notification that caused your dilemma :-)
Voting up, funny
Cloverleaf.
Thank you for telling me this. I really appreciate it Clara Kish
I also enjoyed this... mostly I enjoyed the meanderings of your mind, your writing style... reading your hubs takes me out of the rut I fall into sometimes and am constantly wary of - linear thinking! Growing up with PTSD and ADD linear thinking was never something I was able to use. My mind has always seemed to work simalarly to the old Ricochet Rabbit cartoon character when he would fly off to save the world! I had to work real hard my junior and senior years in high school and college career to learn to think in a linear fashion! To this day I still cannot create an outline to follow... until after the project is completed (!) (?)
Your stories create a sense of freedom in the recesses of my mind giving flight to being! (I think of your Pergrine Falcon soaring quietly in my head...)
And though I still don't know what a 502 is (right now) I concern myself not... I had a great moment just flowing along reading...
Many thanks,
Namaste,
Mike
